Government Assistance for Women-Owned Businesses

The US federal government is providing assistance for Women-Owned business in several ways. The government spends nearly $100 billion yearly in patronising the goods and services yearly from women-owned small businesses (WOSBs). However, it is hard for some women small business owners to compete in the market, and as a result, the SBA has implemented a kind of contracting program for women to aid them have specially set-aside contracts and help them in realising their goals and targets.

To benefit from these policies set by the SBA, you need to get certification of WOSB, by meeting their requirements and criteria. Once you are eligible and certified you have to take advantage of free training, and some of these training elements are:

  • Online training: government contract 101-with these free online courses, you get knowledge of the basics and fundamentals in doing business with the federal government.

  • In-person training/assistance- if you desire to undergo special training about the WOSB program, then all you have to do is to contact your local SBA office as the offices of SBA Women’s Business Centres nationwide can give you great insight on the program.

  • Online handbook- you can also download and go through an easy to read handbook provided by the SBA where you can get details on eligibility requirements, contract opportunities throughout the US and how the program generally works

With these training and certification, you will start benefiting greatly from the special program designed to assist women-owned small businesses (WOSBs).  Government Assistance for Women-Owned Businesses
